Busy week here in Crete! We have been preparing for the Greek elections. We even had a visit from the mayor who talked to us about local politics and his predictions for Crete. The information he shared was very educational for both him and us. He was able to pick our brains on how we, as Americans, view Greece.
Another adventure we went on this week was to the local NATO base. We were allowed to look in the control rooms and get a taste of military life. They seemed so excited by our interest they gave as a tour, key chains, free pens and access to their private beach! It was a once in a life time opportunity and I am so glad we were given the chance to see this base!
Our week ended with a party in our honor. The Institute invited dancers to come and preform native Greek dances. We were also honored with songs and invited to sing and dance along. There were many laughs and the evening went splendidly.
